Durham Region’s newest trail running event made a bold entrance this June with over 450 participants, 60+ youth runners, and a race-day atmosphere that will be remembered for years to come.

Hosted at Trail Hub in Uxbridge, Ontario—perched at the highest point in the Greater Toronto Area and nestled within the Trail Capital of Canada—The Whole Enchilada brought together trail runners from across Ontario for a race that was equal parts challenge and celebration.

Ontario’s Most Scenic Trail Race

From the first light breaking over the trees in Durham Forest to the final runners crossing the finish line, the entire day captured what makes trail running in Ontario so special. Designed to highlight the rugged beauty of Glen Major, Walker Woods, and Durham Forest, each route offered technical terrain, natural immersion, and big rewards.

Participants could choose from four distances:

  • 50K Ultra Marathon – A true test of endurance across some of the region’s most iconic trails
  • 25K Distance – Fast and flowing, with a mix of climbs and runnable forest singletrack
  • 8K Short Course – Perfect for newer trail runners or those looking for a shorter challenge
  • 4K Kids Race and Free 1K Kids Race – Over 80 kids participated, making it a family-friendly highlight of the day

More Than a Race—A Celebration of Community

What truly set the day apart was the atmosphere. From themed aid stations to volunteers dancing in the woods, the entire experience felt more like a festival than a competition. Runners were welcomed back to Trail Hub with food, music, and high fives all around.

Reflection On The Day

“The Whole Enchilada was more than a trail race—it was a celebration of heart, humour, and the wild beauty of Durham Forest. From sunshine pouring through the trees to trail-side aid stations that felt like festivals, this day came alive thanks to the energy of our incredible volunteers and the unstoppable spirit of every runner. Together, we didn’t just run—we built something unforgettable.”
