Behind every event, meal, trail experience and visit to Trail Hub is a team working together to make it happen.
This summer has been an especially busy one, with a full wedding calendar bringing some of our biggest and most memorable celebrations to the property. With that comes long days, careful coordination and a tremendous amount of work happening both in front of guests and behind the scenes.
On August 26, we set aside an afternoon to recognize that effort and bring our team together for a well-earned Staff Appreciation Day.

An Afternoon for the Team
The afternoon began in the Main Chalet, where the team gathered for opening remarks from Eric Novak and a moment to recognize how much Trail Hub has grown, and the people helping to drive that growth.
With nearly the entire team taking part, it was also an opportunity to step outside of the usual rhythm of a busy wedding and event season and spend some time together away from the day-to-day responsibilities of each department.

Taking Teamwork to the Trails
Staff split into groups and set out on a scavenger hunt along Trail Hub’s approximately 3.4-kilometre hiking loop.
The challenge was built around Trail Hub itself. Teams worked through riddles leading them to objects connected to the property or things they might encounter during a typical workday, from dinosaur toys and hair scrunchies to a fan and a water pitcher.
It brought a little friendly competition to the trails while giving staff from across the organization a chance to work together in a completely different way.
Once everyone reached the top of the hill, the teams compared their finds, winners were announced and prizes were handed out before settling in for the evening.
Recognized as One of Ontario’s Best Workplaces
Earlier this year, we became Great Place To Work® Certified in Canada, with 97% of our team saying Trail Hub is a great place to work based on anonymous employee feedback.
Trail Hub has since been named to the Best Workplaces™ in Ontario 2026 list in the under-100-employees category, another recognition that is especially meaningful because it begins with the experience of the people who work here.
For us, workplace culture is about more than a certification or a single staff event. It is built through the everyday experience of working together across hospitality, culinary, weddings and events, recreation, grounds and operations. Days like this simply give us an opportunity to celebrate the people behind that culture.

BBQ, Magic and a Chance to Unwind
After the scavenger hunt, the pace slowed down for dinner and drinks, with BBQ catered by Brisket Daddy BBQ in Ajax.
The evening then took a fun turn with The Experience by Mind Bender, an interactive show combining mentalism, magic, comedy and audience participation.
Several Trail Hub team members were brought into the performance, making the show as much about the reactions around the room as what was happening at the front of it.
The night wrapped up with drinks and time to socialize, giving everyone a chance to simply enjoy being together after a busy summer.

Continuing to Build a Workplace People Enjoy Being Part Of
Trail Hub continues to grow, and that growth is only possible because of the people behind it.
Our team moves between very different worlds every week. One day might mean welcoming hundreds of wedding guests, another could involve a busy afternoon at Nest, maintaining the property and trails, supporting a major event or helping someone experience Trail Hub for the first time. What connects all of it is the people doing the work.
Being recognized among the Best Workplaces™ in Ontario is something we are proud of, but it is also something we want to continue earning. As Trail Hub grows, so does our responsibility to keep investing in the culture, relationships and shared experiences that make this a place people genuinely enjoy being part of.
To our entire team: thank you for everything you continue to bring to Trail Hub.
