About the Role
Trail Hub is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant with a strong background in streamlining accounting operations within small to medium-sized businesses. This is not a passive bookkeeping role. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who enjoys identifying inefficiencies, improving systems and processes, and helping create structure within a growing organization.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, technologically capable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with multiple revenue streams and departments.
This role will work directly with our offsite accounting team to improve accounting functions and operational processes across the business. You will be expected to take ownership of systems, workflows, and accounting process improvements while helping create more structure, visibility, accountability, and operational efficiency throughout the organization.
While this role will not directly manage Accounts Payable, it will own and oversee Accounts Receivable workflows and processes. A major focus of this position will be building strong operational workflows across departments, vendors, invoicing systems, payment tracking, and financial organization to help eliminate gaps and improve accountability throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Accounts Receivable workflows, payment tracking, reconciliation support, and financial organization
- Work directly with our offsite accounting partners to improve accounting functions and operational workflows
- Build and improve scalable systems and processes across departments and vendor relationships
- Create stronger operational structure and accountability around invoicing, financial communication, documentation, and workflow management
- Identify inefficiencies, operational gaps, and opportunities for process improvement
- Take ownership of accounting systems, structure, and workflow optimization initiatives
- Maintain accuracy and organization across financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with monthly reporting, payroll coordination, financial tracking, and operational support
- Collaborate with leadership and department heads to improve organizational efficiency and operational execution
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting technology and operational systems
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, preferably within small or growing businesses
- Strong understanding of accounting operations, Accounts Receivable workflows, reconciliations, and financial organization
- Proven experience improving systems, processes, and operational efficiency
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to take ownership and drive outcomes independently
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with platforms such as Xero, Dext, payroll systems, POS integrations, or operational software is considered a strong asset
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving business environment
